First Meeting UN Scientific Board

The inaugural meeting of the recently created United Nations Scientific Advisory Board was held in Berlin on 30 and 31 January 2014. This Board was created by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon in September 2013. The Board aims to strengthen the linkages between science and policy, so as to better address the economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development. It consists of 26 scientists from across the world. Eugenia Kalnay form Argentina, Sir Hilary McDonald Beckles from Barbados, Carlos Nobre from Brazil, and Susan Avery and Shankar Sastry from USA are the Board members from countries of the Americas.
